Un río de aguas profundas y luminosas

2026
Trailer
In the mid-1970s, as a child, Susana accompanied her father, Pedro Juajibioy, on various journeys throughout the Putumayo region, where he collected plants while dreaming of establishing a botanical garden in his hometown of Sibundoy. Today, together with Susana and Brayan—a young botanist from Sibundoy—we traverse those same paths in the Colombian Amazon, following in the footsteps of Pedro, who is well-known for having accompanied the ethnobotanist Richard Evans Schultes on his explorations of the region between 1941 and 1953. This legacy lives on through the work of Brayan; inspired by Pedro’s original garden—which was destroyed by a landslide in 2000—he has created a new conservation space in Sibundoy and resumed the task of collecting and caring for plants. "A river of deep, luminous waters" accompanies these journeys, revealing how knowledge is passed down through generations and remains vibrant among those who continue to practice it within their own territory.
